Biographical Information
Jim is currently Senior Instructor in the Leeds School of Business at CU-Boulder where he teaches courses in leadership and management. Jim also facilitates leadership sessions in the Executive Development programs, Technology and Leadership and CEDIR, and teaches leadership in the summer CUBIC program.
Prior to CU, Jim was a Sr. Program Manager for six years in Support Services for Sun Microsystems in Broomfield, CO. Prior to Sun, Jim worked as a Distance Learning Manager in education and training for Lucent Technologies. Other lives also include owner of a bed and breakfast in Asheville, NC, Aviation Administrator for The Port Authority of New York/New Jersey in the World Trade Center, and Newark (New Jersey) City Manager for People Express Airlines.
Jim holds a doctorate in 19th century American literature and co-authored a grammar book for college freshman for the University of Denver. He also teaches various literature courses, including Thoreau, Shakespeare, Sherlock Holmes, and the poetry of Francesco Petrarca at The University of Denver. Jim is a descendent of Petrarch on his maternal grandmother's side.
Jim has a book on Henry David Thoreau and the 9-5 world of work entitled "Minding Our Own Business" coming out in the spring of 07.

Gordon Riggle, Lecturer, Leeds School of Business

Biographical Information
Gordon Riggle is an accomplished leader in government, business and the military. Today he teaches leadership and strategy at the University of Colorado and has a consulting practice in leadership, strategy, and government relations. Riggle also served three terms as a member of the Boulder City Council. Throughout the 1990s Gordon did strategic planning and advanced business development with Ball Aerospace and Technologies Corp., first in Washington, D.C. and later in their Boulder headquarters.
Prior to moving to Boulder, Riggle served at the White House as Deputy Assistant to the President and Director of the Office of Administration. Before that appointment he worked as a Professional Staff Member of the United States Senate. He also served on the Presidential Transition Team as Special Assistant to the Secretary of Defense. During his military service, Riggle was a Captain in the United States Navy, commanding the destroyer USS KINKAID in the Pacific and a patrol boat in Vietnam.
His education includes a master in public administration degree from Harvard University, the Program for Senior Executives at the Sloan School of Management, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and bachelor in philosophy from Lafayette College.

Biographical Information
Daryl Winn's research has focused on industrial organization (competition, oligopoly and monopoly), profitability of business, CEO compensation and effectiveness of Boards of Directors. He has published a book and numerous articles. Professor Winn has taught managerial economics, regulation and antitrust, current business conditions and Entrepreneurship. Twice, he has been named "Professor of Year" for his teaching. Besides teaching in the MBA program and undergraduate program in Boulder, Professor Winn has taught in numerous executive programs; the Executive MBA program; the Executive Master of Health Administration Program; the Chamber of Commerce; Johns Manville Accelerated Management Program; the Colorado Graduate School of Banking (executives from around the World) and the Natural Gas Executive Program. Professor Winn earned his Ph.D. from the University of Michigan in Business Economics and has consulted with a wide variety of clients and has served on for-profit and not-for profit boards. Professor Winn worked for the Federal Energy Administration in Washington D.C. in 1975-76. He has traveled extensively around the World and has taught in executive MBA programs in Thailand (Thammasat) and Mainland China (Wuhan) recently.
