While on Winter Break teams will need to:
Airline Tickets:
The most important thing to arrange is your flight itinerary. We encourage teams to make these arrangements as soon as possible. Late February is the height of the ski season and flights might be limited and expensive if teams wait too long. Also, since teams will be traveling to Colorado prepare to encounter winter weather. The weather is something teams will want to account for when booking your flights. We recommend that you try to get a flight that arrives into Denver earlier in the day. The absolute latest that teams can arrive into the airport in Denver is 4:00 pm MST on Friday, February 22rd. Anything later than that and teams would run the risk of missing the crucial debriefing session. If you have specific questions regarding flight itinerary please e-mail us.
Hotel Reservations:
We have arranged a discounted room block at the Boulder Outlook Hotel & Suites for students competing in the finals. It is a great hotel that is close to the school and prides itself on being a zero waste facility. Here is the information you will need to book rooms.
Room rates and availability can only be guaranteed till January 21, 2008 so please make arrangements as soon as possible. Please also let them know what school and team you are representing when you make your reservation. That will help us keep track of which teams have made arrangements for hotel accommodations.
Transportation to and from Airport:
Boulder is about an hour drive, in good weather, from Denver International Airport (DIA). Teams will be responsible for finding their own means of transportation to Boulder from the airport. Here are some contacts that might be helpful.
Transportation will be provided on Saturday to and from the competition and dinner.
Other Expenses:
Included in the entry fee is: appetizers for Friday, February 22nd, lunch and dinner on February 23rd. Continental breakfast is included in the price of the hotel room. Hopefully this will help to determine how much additional money you will need while here for traveling expenses, snacks, etc.
For questions about the competition please contact George Davison at George.Davison@colorado.edu.
